Description
Art Deco 3 Piece Original European Dining Room suite, purchased from the granddaughter of the original owner. It was brought from Germany to the US in the 1930s. A unique design with great shapes and a lot of details. The design has a stair-stepped faceted treatment with some cubist influence overall.
The set consists of 3 pieces, all with matching two-tone unusual top and lower cap wood designs. Unusual table with faceted legs, with the two-tone wood skirt to match the other pieces. The table opens up with two matching inserts also with the matching table skirts. The side buffet has an unusual stair-stepped drawer and door openings, insides are all finished in black. The tall side piece is part storage and part bar. All pieces have a matching black foot design with a cubist edge that allows each corner to have multiple feet for both balance and aesthetic design.
The wood looks like a European amboyna or a burl walnut with lots of figures in the choices of veneer used. Notice how the corners of each piece and the base are all notched or stepped to match which helps give this understated cubist style to the set. All pieces are organized to use matching wood treatments, a very unique and original look. The set may have been restored some 20 years ago, shows small signs of use, but presents very well as indicated in the photos shown here.
The chairs shown with the set can be purchased seperately or maybe there is something else we can arrange for you.
