Description
An eight day tall clock by Benjamin Chandlee Sr. (1685-1745), one of the earliest clockmakers in colonial Pennsylvania. He emigrated from Ireland and was in Philadelphia by 1702, where he trained with clockmaker Abel Cottey. Chandlee married Cottey's daughter, Sarah, and later settled in Nottingham, then located in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. After the surveying of the Mason-Dixon Line concluded in 1767, this area became part of Cecil County, Maryland.

Good overall condition; originally had a sarcophagus pediment. Feet slightly reduced in height. Clock hands are replaced. -
