Description
1940s Widdicomb modular 12 drawer mahogany dresser with circular brass pulls.
Four separate three drawer cases fasten together resting on a common base topped by an overhanging top.
Each case has an 1940s Widdicomb label.
The dresser is in excellent condition.
This piece is part of The Widdicomb Modern Originals Flexi-Unit series (initially known as the Horizontal Vertical Sectional Modern series), a series that was made by Widdicomb but not designed by T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings. It was conceived by C.G. Kimerly, a freelance designer from Jackson, Michigan, who sold the plans to Widdicomb in the Fall of 1940. The line debuted in March 1941 at Marshall Fields in Chicago, Illinois. It was in production for nearly a full decade, 1941 to 1950. -
