Chest with floral inlaid decoration

The floral design inlaid on the front and lid of this chest was done in sumac, which provided a yellowish color to contrast with the reddish-brown walnut. The central foot of the chest is often found on examples from the Pennsylvania–Maryland border area. Ex-collection William K. du Pont
