Early 19th Century French Oak Cabinet / Buffet Deux Corps
-
Description
A nice early 19th century French oak cabinet also known as a buffet deux corps. The crown center carved with a basket of fruit. The two glazed doors featuring deeply carved moldings and decoration. Great storage, classic design and good decoration. Originally these pieces were used to store linen, glass and dishes. Now designers place them were ever storage is needed or when they need an interesting sculptural piece to fill a large wall. The style of this piece is Louis XV. It is hand made and carved with old glass. The hardware suggests a slightly later date. Earlier styles were continually made in the countryside. We think this dates to about 1830.
