  • Description
    With a rich and well developed surface patina, this small blanket chest remains silky to the touch where years of handling and waxing have produced a glossy glow. The chest is crafted out of solid oak, the top lifting on original hinges (one repaired) to reveal a tidy interior. It is situated over a pair of drawers, each dovetailed with period correct replaced brasses. The chest is raised over original bracket feet, though the molding and feet have warped somewhat creating an uneven presentation. Due to the fragility of the piece, we would not recommend restoring this and would simply accept it as the natural course the wood in the chest has taken over time.

    Measurements: 25 3/4" H x 42 1/2" W x 17 3/4" D

    Condition Report:
    Old surface with discolorations throughout. Replaced brass bail pulls and batwing backplates. Missing keyhole escutcheon. No key. Original iron strap hinges, one repaired. Loss to lid molding on right side. Right foot (facing the chest) and molding slightly twisted and leaving the chest slightly uneven with associated repairs.
