English Regency Antique Mahogany and Brass Cabinet Sideboard Server, 19th C.

$ 2,800
  • Description
    With a diminutive form and tidy lines, this little Regency era chiffonier is the ideal size and proportion for today's home. Projecting only 14" into the room, this shallow cupboard offers an angular form and rich material without dominating the room.

    It was executed well into the second quarter of the 19th century with elements of the William IV taste evident in the turned feet and styling of brass rosettes in the doors. The case is crafted using both solid and veneers of mahogany throughout the primary surfaces with pine for the secondary areas. An attractive stringer inlay of rubbed pitch ebony is employed in the sides using a distinctive inverted arrow in the spandrels.

    The case is surmounted by a shelved upper, not designed to be removable, the scrolled columns being firmly affixed into the top of the cabinet. Two small drawers are withdrawn from the cabinet with stamped brass knobs embellished with relief spiraling oak leaf designs. These are hand-dovetailed with oak secondary woods.

    A pair of doors with upholstered panels behind brass lattice-work open to reveal a shelved interior.

    These stylish little Regency servers are quite difficult to find, as the proportions work so perfectly today, lending the classical and traditional without imposing on a space.

    This piece is priced with restoration in mind, as we would recommend that the color be touched up and to have the surface re-polished.

    Measurements: 59" H x 39 3/8" W x 14" D
