A very handsome Regency period sideboard, it is a substantial piece with an attractive demilune design. The top is veneered in a figured mahogany surrounded by a cross-banded edging, this conforming to the inverted sides and projecting just slightly over all sides; it is backed by an original dovetailed backsplash. On the left is an upper drawer over an outward swinging cabinet door, the lock on these operated with a faux-key vertical latch mechanism. The opposite side is an unusual ovular full-depth wine drawer with traces of old lead lining, crafted entirely out of oak secondary woods with tight hand-cut dovetailing and original bottle divides; an original plug allows liquid to drain from the bottom. A single drawer slides in and out of the center of the case. The entire cabinet is raised over boldly reeded legs resting on integral turned ball feet. Entirely pure and with a beautiful old surface, it remains a fine presentation piece.
