-
Description
Dimensions: 82?H x 70?W x 27-1/2?D
A nearly 300 year old solid-walnut homme debout from 18th century, France. This Louis XIII piece features four heavy, lockable doors with geometric panel carvings in deep relief. All have beautiful cut steel escutcheons. These doors are hung on barrel hinges and are separated (top from bottom) by a pair of once-lockable drawers, each outfitted with a circular steel pull. Both the upper and lower cavities have a single fixed shelf. Throughout its long life, the thick, solid walnut has acquired a patina that is simply amazing and ripe with antiquity. Impeccable craftsmanship and detail. Pegged joinery. This sublime case piece rests on massive bun feet and will be a conversation piece for a lifetime to come, circa 1730. -
