French 19th Century Tall Case Clock
-
Description
This fantastic solid oak case clock was crafted in France during the 19th century. A sharply carved bonet over a single door with glass panes for the dial case and pendulum to show through. A beautifully patinated brass repousse fronton supports the marble dial face. The Roman numerals were hand painted in blue on white porcelain shield forms. The large pendulum was crafted from brass by hand, you can still see some of the hammer marks. This weight-driven clock is in working order, provided it is regularly wound. One crank-key included. Because of how particular longcase clocks are, you will want to have a professional come and make sure it’s level and show you how to properly wind it. Standing right at 8’ tall, it will add great presence to interiors with extra-high ceilings. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look.
