Description
French Modernist Art Deco pair of side tables/nightstands by Georges Champion in amboyna with bronze pulls. 14.5" wide x 13" deep x 24.5" high.
Note: These tables are unrestored in the photographs. Price includes restoration.
French Modernist designer Champion participated in the salons of the Societe des Artistes Decorateurs and Salon d'Automne in the 1920s, as well as the pivotal 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes. 1928 he became artistic director of Studio Gue, the decorating department of the firm Georges et Gaston Guerin in Paris. Champion preferred Modernist clean forms with simple planes. In 1930 he opened Atelier 75. With Jacques Guenne he managed the journal l'Art Vivant which published the works of young artists. in 1937 he won a gold medal at the Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne. - More Information
