This Italian sideboard from the 1950s is powerful in all its simplicity and shows a fine piece of craftsmanship in a modest form. At first glance, we see a typical Italian 1950s credenza, but when we let the item sink in a bit longer, a number of refined details emerge. The rectangular design language is subtly interrupted four times by the side and middle panels that divide the cabinet into three parts. The edges of those parts continue at the front and have the shape of a triangular prism. In addition to its constructive aspect, this refined detail also serves as a very pleasant decoration. Now let's turn our attention to the cabinet doors. In each compartment, the left door is larger than the right door, so that they are staggered and ensure that the sideboard is just outside the realm of its peers. The handles are beautifully curved and resemble a slat that is slightly convex so that you can reach behind it with your hand. A typical characteristic of La Permanente Mobili Cantu. When we open the doors, an interior with walnut veneer approaches us. Everything is finished to perfection and the doors open and close extremely smoothly by means of roller locks. The base has slightly curved crossbars that provide support but also correspond with the handles. The legs are characterized by their geometric shapes and have a monumental appearance and its brass round feet are all adjustable to the desired height. For those looking for an object that enhances the interior through discretion, this is the answer. The condition is consistent with age and use and has diffuse scratches, but overall this sideboard is in a beautiful condition.
