Gilt bronze mounted mahogany side cabinet by Mercier Freres

This superb buffet cabinet is by Mercier Fr猫res, one of the leading manufacturers of furniture working in Paris during the 19th Century.
The cabinet is crafted from mahogany and is adorned with a host of fine gilt bronze mounts. The top of the cabinet is finished with a rounded-edge grey marble plateau, below which are twin shallow frieze drawers set above a shelf with a mirrored backing. Below the shelf are twin locking cupboard doors, their fronts finished with parquetry and bordered with black wood and a series of Neoclassical style gilt bronze mounts. The sides of the cabinet are similarly decorated, adorned with parquetry and further gilt bronze mounts. -
