With the exposed finger-joinery and the distinctive sculpted teak pulls signature to Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen’s designs, this two-part bookcase-over-cabinet is a powerful strikepoint piece that perfectly balances form and function. It is designed with a wealth of storage space easily organized inside of the lower cabinet, the three small drawers over an adjustable shelved lower space. The upper section is ideal for books, but also is a fine display space. While most of the chests, cabinets and credenzas they designed in this style sat over a more plain dowel foot, this cabinet was designed with a rather rare sophisticated sculpted foot with an outward taper that lightens the form considerably. It was retailed by John Stuart, Inc. and bears his stamp verso.
