Description
This elegant modernist bar cabinet was realized by Ralph Lauren- the visionary designer of clothing and homeware that, as much as anyone else of the 20th century, defined modern American style. This bar cart- meticulously realized in bookmatched Santos rosewood (showing a dramatic natural grain) and nickeled bronze appears clearly inspired by the formal motifs and lines of 1930s American Art Deco design. The bar cabinet offers a rectilinear body in bookmatched burled rosewood cantilevering over a skyscraper style base with streamlined sides and a central section outlined in lustrous nickeled bronze. The central section is composed of two doors (with original nickeled bronze lock and key) and three drawers with volumetric rectilinear hardware (in lustrous bronze as well). Each of the side doors open to reveal five shelves in each. This piece offers virtually limitless storage options for alcohol, glassware and accessories. With its refined palate and elegant modernist forms- taking cues from the timeless aesthetic of American Machine Age Art Deco- this piece is as versatile as it is stunning. Envisioned by one of America's most important tastemakers and executed to the most impeccable standards using the finest materials (including rare Santos rosewood), this piece is for those who demand nothing but the best. It is in mint restored condition and retains its original tag reading "Ralph Lauren". Excellent condition .
