Description
Fine French Art Deco Amaranth wood commode by Chaleyssin with bone inlays and original fine gilded bronze hardware. Most likely designed as a corner piece, the commode fits very well on a straight wall since the center back of the commode is flat. Francisque Chaleyssin (1872-1951) : la maison Chaleyssin was founded in 1867. From 1920 to 1930, this manufacture had been producing Modern furniture as a result for a successful joint venture between Francisque Chaleyssin and his son in-law, Andre Ducaroy. They gathered a team made up of the best French craftsman working with the best material. Very traditional at the begining, their production became modernist and seduced the rich french industrialist. La maison Mercier-Chaleyssin settled a workshop in the french port of LeHavre in order to participate to the decorating of titanesc liner such as « Ile de France, » « De Grasse, » le « Normandie. »
