A Large Italian Sideboard Credenza with Mirror Osvaldo Borsani
-
Description
A large and impressive sideboard or credenza with a matching mirror, circa 1950s designed by Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985). The sideboard is made of rosewood in contrast with ebonized central panel. It features an inset glass top and a large, shaped mirror in gilt wood frame that was installed with the credenza. Three hinged drop front compartments open to shelved storage with brass trim and birch surface. The credenza is supported by splayed tapered legs with brass sabot feet, giving this piece an elegant and lighter appearance. Brass keys are present. The mirror is not fixed to the sideboard by design, instead it is attached to it with small wood dowels on the bottom and further reinforced on the back with wood bars (present). The mirror may also be hung above the sideboard on the wall to fit the space better. The height of the sideboard without the mirror is 37.5". Some in situ picture of the sideboard without the mirror is included. A statement piece for a bespoken interior.
