Art Deco Streamlined Machine Age Skyscraper Style Chrome & Brass Chandelier

Description
This rare and iconic Art Deco chandelier was realized in America circa 1935, and formerly housed in the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California. The large scale fixture offers a two tier configuration and an octagonal form composed of brushed brass, chrome and frosted glass. The chandelier has an octagonal frosted plane in the center that is surrounded by eight rhombus forms ascending at an angle to the central tier. The central tier, or main body, of the chandelier is wrapped on eight sides by brushed brass rectangular forms bookended on top and bottom by undulating ribbon forms and bisected in the center with streamlined channeled supports all in brushed chrome. The original volumetric rectangular stem is in brass with channeled columnar like detailing at each corner in chrome that are topped with spherical forms. The stem adjoins the tiered and faceted original canopy via a cylindrical brass embellishment. With its iconic leitmotifs throughout and impressive scale, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of the period, as well as those with an appreciation for unmistakably special objects. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The height can be adjusted to suit.
