FRANÇOIS LANUSÉ – B. in 1938
Sensitive to art from at a young age, François Lanusé initially devoted himself to painting as a self-taught artist in the late 1950’s.
In 1962, upon returning to France from the Algerian War, deeply affected, he felt the need to head south and left Paris for the small village of Le Castellet in Var, where he established his first pottery workshop. A second one was established a few years later in Le Beausset, a neighboring village.
In the early 1970’s Lanusé contacted Daniel de Montmollin, whose work on glazed ceramics he secretly admired, and who welcomed him to Taize, encouraging him in this direction. This was followed by a rich period of ten years in which Lanusé devoted to technical ceramic work, with workshops open to the public, accompanied by a spiritual openness approach.
Until the early 1980’s, the artist created some extraordinary glazed creations that were exhibited in various galleries across Europe.
Lanusé ceased his production in the early 1990’s, when he decided to commit to humanitarian work as much as possible.
His ceramic pieces are very rare and highly sought after museums and collectors worldwide. -
