French 19th Century Empire Gilt Bronze & Tôle Chandelier

Dimensions: 24” H x 15 ⅝” W x 15 ⅝” D
French, 19th century Empire style ceiling fixture of green tôle using six candelabra lights to illuminate the stunning gilt bronze accents and the surrounding room. A round metal bowl retains most of the original sage-green painted finish, now patinated with small chips to reveal the dark metal underneath. It is suspended from the gilded palmette crown by decorative chains that incorporate subtle acanthus motifs in the links around an “eternal flame” finial that rises from the center. A line of six, scrolling arms reminiscent of cornucopia feature Neoclassical acanthus and vaguely Egyptian motifs typical of the Empire/Napoleonic visual codes. The fixture has been professionally rewired to US electrical standards using UL-listed parts and is ready to delight in your interior.
