Jacques Adnet French Mid Century Modern Leather Table Lamp
#3047
A Highly Unusual French Mid Century Modernist Leather Table Lamp by Jacques Adnet
French c.1955
This extraordinary table lamp is of rare simulated bamboo form and was designed by the great architect and furniture designer Jacques Adnet. Originally an interior designer, Adnet turned to designing furniture for his own projects in the 1950s and these designs won for him a lasting acclaim which continues to this day. Adnet was particularly famous for his use of leather in his designs, giving his pieces a sense of understated luxury, and our lamp is a perfect example of his aesthetic. Designed as a pair of bamboo canes in brass covered in hand stitched red leather, this is a highly interesting design that incorporates aspects of chinoiserie with the modernist style. The twin stemmed design is much rarer than the single stem examples, which have been widely reproduced in the 21st century.
This piece represents a very rare opportunity to own a design classic by one of the foremost furniture designers of the 20th century.
