Mid-Century Modern Floor Lamp with Brass Black Enamel and Mica Shades

Description
This sophisticated Mid Century Modern floor lamp was realized in the United States circa 1950. It features a circular button-like base in polished brass from which two cylindrical supports in black enamel ascend. One of the supports rises from the center straight towards the ceiling where it culminates in a four sided cupped shade with raised curved sides and a bulb in the center. Off-center there is another black enamel rod that takes a more circuitous path, winding upwards, before veering at nearly a right angle. At its end, there is a brass embellishment that attaches to a circular brass canopy that supports a convex formica shade that catches the light from below. With its graphic and idiosyncratic form, and beautiful mixture of modernist materials, this light would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition.
