Paavo Tynell rare metal and glass 'war' chandelier
-
Description
A very rare chandelier by Paavo Tynell, produced by Taito, Finland. The lamp has six patinated metal arms around a glass body and with glass elements on the arms and with pleated fabric shades. The glass parts were produced and hand-painted with a floral motif by Kauklahti Glassworks.
The chandelier was made during the war, when there was a scarcity of materials like brass, which makes this lamp more sober than the lamps Tynell is best known for. -
