Description
A pair of French gilt metal Ears of Wheat wall sconces from the 20th century in the style of Coco Chanel. This exquisite pair of French gilt metal Ears of Wheat wall sconces from the 20th century, professionally rewired for the USA, embodies the elegant style associated with Coco Chanel. The design reflects Chanel's fondness for the wheat motif, a symbol deeply rooted in her life and legacy. In 1947, Salvador Dali, a close friend of Mademoiselle Chanel, gifted her a small painting of an ear of wheat, which still adorns her apartment at 31 rue Cambon in Paris. Wheat, like the camellia, was Chanel's favorite plant and lucky charm, representing prosperity and abundance.
These sconces feature gracefully curved ears of wheat, crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The gilt metal finish adds a touch of opulence, while the wheat motif serves as a subtle metaphor for the constantly renewed creativity and the incredible journey of Gabrielle Chanel from a peasant girl to the queen of Paris fashion. The sconces' design not only pays homage to Chanel's aesthetic but also reflects the rich history and symbolism associated with the wheat motif.
Perfect for enhancing a variety of settings, these wall sconces can be placed in a living room, bedroom, or hallway, where they will add a touch of elegance and historical charm. Their refined design and golden hue make them versatile additions to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Whether flanking a mirror, adorning a fireplace, or illuminating a cozy reading nook, these Ears of Wheat wall sconces will bring a touch of sophistication and timeless beauty to any home.
These sconces are not just lighting fixtures but pieces of art that celebrate the enduring legacy of Coco Chanel, making them a cherished addition to your decor. Their blend of functional elegance and rich historical context ensures they will be admired and appreciated for years to come. -
