Pair of French Art Deco Shell Lamps in Polished Pewter by Vincent Garnier

This stunning pair of Art Deco inspired shell lamps were realized by the esteemed maker Vincent Garnier in France circa 1950. Each features a streamlined base with an open form front that supports a stylized clam shell in lustrous pewter. The bodies of each is composed of an abundance of touching undulating layers (a few of which exhibit a hand hammered and dappled texture) with a scalloped top. Each of these shell lamps is illuminated from within casting gentle illumination into any interior setting. These pieces embody both an iconically Art Deco sensibility (reinterpreting oceanic leitmotifs omnipresent throughout Deco design, as well as the abundance of streamlined forms) as well as a Mid Century verve and economy of form, making them as versatile as they are exquisite. They would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. They have been newly rewired to American standards and are in excellent vintage condition. They retain their original stickers reading "handmade by Vincent Garnier" and are also signed by the maker.
