A fine pair of barocchetto period escutcheon-shaped giltwood mirrors cum girandoles
Venice. Mid Eighteenth Century.
Measurements
Height: 51" (129 cm); Width: 34" (86 cm); circa 4" at canopy (10 cm)
Research:
Of giltwood retaining their original (restored) mirror plates. The original shaped mirror plates are contained within carved and molded giltwood frames retaining their original gilding. The finely carved ornament includes rocaille, floral and obelisk motifs. Original sockets present for candlearms; candlearms not present, but could be reinstated.
