Description
An elegant wall mirror with brass frame, Italy, 1950s.
The brass frame, slender and gently moulded, discreetly follows the sinuous contours of the shield, imparting both refinement and sobriety. The natural patina of the metal, developed over time, adds warmth and depth to the profile, enhancing the perception of the reflective surface and underscoring its authenticity.
The shield design, with its elegant curvature at the upper edge, is characteristic of Italian production of the first half of the 20th century, a period in which mirrors were conceived not only as functional objects but also as decorative elements capable of defining space with lightness. The interplay between the purity of the glass and the thin metallic profile embodies the taste of the era for essential, harmonious lines—restrained in ornamentation yet rich in carefully measured details.
Its well-balanced proportions make it equally suitable as a stand-alone piece, drawing attention in an entrance hall or living area, or as part of a wider composition in dialogue with other mirrors or furnishings of the same period. The quality of its materials, together with the integrity of both the glass and the frame, make this mirror a refined example of postwar Italian design.
Shield-shaped, hhe mirror glass is original of the period and in very good overall condition. Perfectly clear and bright, retains its original transparency and reflects faithfully without chromatic alterations.
