Description
Djivan Schapira creates unique works of collectible design that draw inspiration from his split childhood growing up between the French countryside and New York City. The son of a master craftsman, he developed an advanced woodworking practice over the course of 15 years as an apprentice cabinet maker. In his early 20s, he began experimenting with resins, developing techniques and a distinct style that would become the cornerstone of his artistic output. Schapira will be debuting a new line of furniture later this year combining his signature mastery of resin with high-end studio production exclusively with Todd Merrill Studio.
In May 2022, Djivan was the winning recipient of both Emerging Product Designer of the Year Award in the Furniture category, as well as the People’s Choice Award which crossed all mediums. His work has been featured in world-renowned publications including Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Digest, Modern Luxury, Surface Magazine, and Owners: a French magazine exclusively for Aston Martin owners, in addition to winning an internationally acclaimed A’ Design Award 2019.
