Early 19th Century Late Gustavian Giltwood Mirror, Stockholm
-
Description
An elegant late Gustavian mirror, crafted in Stockholm in the early 19th century. The giltwood frame retains its well-preserved original gilding, now gently washed to reveal its soft, time-worn luster. The pediment is adorned with a finely carved floral rosette at each corner and a central garland motif, complemented by additional garland and ribbon carvings along the frame. The lower panel features intricate decorative reliefs, reflecting the refined neoclassical influences of the Gustavian style. Fitted with later mirror glass, the piece balances authenticity with practical use. A superb example of Swedish craftsmanship, ideal as a statement piece in both traditional and modern interiors.
