An exquisite mid-17th-century Dutch or Flemish baroque mirror or looking glass, the original ebonized and faux tortoiseshell painted frame having geometric design with beveled reentrant corners and compound basketweave, ripple, and wave carved borders around central mirror-plate.

Origin: Netherlands Period: Pre 18th Century Materials: Carved and painted fruitwood, glass Condition: Good. Frame considered 'pristine' for age, non-detracting but evident dormant worming around side edges, mirror glass is a modern "antiqued" replacement.
