French 18th Century Hand-Carved Frame with New Mirror Plate

$ 8,400
  • Description
    Dimensions: 57 ⅝” H x 46” W x 2 ⅝” D

    An impressive hand carved and painted picture frame from the 1700s that has been meticulously restored. It now houses a new mirror plate, a beautiful contrast against the old frame. The artistry in this piece takes inspiration from French rococo as thick, foliate and scrolled elements in high-relief paired with Neoclassical motifs that wrap around the molding. Patinated layers of taupe and green paint contribute to the sense of depth and texture all around. Displayed in vertical orientation, the frame is symmetrical to hang in either direction. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions.
