Description
A spectacular French 19th century gold gilt mantel mirror with original mirror glass revealing curious patches of foxing across the top. The regal molding incorporates textural, floral, and foliate motifs with cartouches under layers of patina exposing some of the red bole underneath. Five equidistant spots of foxing delineate the upper third of the glass and glittering crystals have begun to accumulate along the bottom edge of the frame, confirming the historic age of this striking mantel mirror.
