French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Reeded Gilt Mirror

Dimensions: 33 ½” H x 31 ¾” W x 1 ⅜” D

A French mirror from circa 1840, framed in classic reeded molding of the Louis XVI taste that reflects the luster of gold, now patinated to a fine craquelure texture. The nearly square frame is symmetrical to hang in any direction; and the original glass reveals curious patches of foxing concentrated to the middle of the left and right sides, otherwise the reflection is clear. Look closely to observe the crystals beginning to accumulate on the that add sparkle to the reflection. The ribbed lines of the patinated molding are warmed by red bole peeking through which give dimension to the otherwise restrained design. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
