French 19th Century Window Transom Mirror

Dimensions: 42” H x 55 ⅝” W x 1 ¾” D

A unique carved and painted wood transom from late 19th century France that would have been built into the architecture of a room, now holding a plate of mirror glass that can effectively open up any space. Patinated layers of aqua and green paints contribute to the sense of depth and texture that surround the arched opening, carved to a fan shape in the corners that suggest an Art Nouveau aesthetic The original glass has been replaced by a new mirror plate for a clear reflection of the room. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
