    A French giltwood mirror frame, rectangular in form, featuring a carved foliate motif of acanthus leaves and scrolls. The inner border with ornamentation in a chain pattern; the outer frame with substantial, deeply carved acanthus leaves and convex shape adds a three-dimensional quality making the foliate carvings more pronounced. The mirror retains its original mercury plate with natural patina and wear consistent with age and use. French, circa 1850.
