Description
This wall mirror is characterised by a softly contoured rectangular outline, gently tapered and rounded at the corners, which gives the piece a fluid and understated presence. Its proportions are vertical and well balanced, allowing it to introduce a sense of depth and visual continuity within an interior. The subtle curvature of the profile softens the geometry, making the mirror equally suited to an entrance hall, a dressing room, or a space where perspective and light play a central role.
The mirror plate is framed by a slim brass surround that follows the sinuous outline with precision. The brass frame is discreet in section, acting as a delicate boundary rather than a decorative statement, and allowing the reflective surface to remain visually dominant. The reflective glass is original to the period and displays a clear surface, with only minimal and natural signs of ageing visible at close range, consistent with its age. The overall construction reflects the refined material sensibility typical of early 1960s production.
Produced in Italy in the early 1960s, the mirror belongs to a period in which domestic objects embraced softer forms and reduced ornamentation, favouring elegant lines and careful proportions. The design reflects this moment with restraint, combining functional clarity with a subtle sculptural quality that enhances spatial perception without imposing itself.
The mirror retains its original glass from the period, which shows visible oxidation and age-related marks across the surface. These traces lend character and testify to the authenticity of the piece. replacement glass can be provided upon request should a clearer reflective surface be preferred.
The brass frame, minimal in section, presents a warm patina developed over time and complements the softness of the overall form.
