Description
Mid-century modern Italian Art Deco style wall mirror, made in Italy in the 1970s, featuring a tall full-length form with a sculptural handcrafted metal frame. This vintage postmodern mirror displays a sleek and artistic asymmetrical design, characteristic of Italian modern production of the period, combining functionality with strong decorative presence. The frame is executed in aluminum and worked entirely by hand, with a combination of hammered and smooth polished surfaces that create a striking contrast in texture. Portions of the frame show embossed relief decoration produced with a hammered technique, while other areas are left clean and polished, giving the mirror a refined industrial and postmodern character. The irregular, slightly asymmetrical outline enhances the sculptural quality of the piece and makes it stand out from traditional rectangular mirrors.
The mirrored panel is long and narrow, providing a true full-length reflection, while the design also allows the mirror to be hung either vertically or horizontally depending on the space. Because of its tall and slim proportions, the mirror is especially suitable for hallways, dressing areas, bedrooms, or entry spaces where a strong decorative element is desired without occupying too much depth. The mirror measures approximately 75 inches high, 34 inches wide, and 1.5 inches deep, giving it an impressive presence while remaining easy to place. A fine example of Italian craftsmanship of the 1970s, this mirror combines modernist, Art Deco revival, and postmodern influences, in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. -
