Paolo Buffa wooden lacquered mirror, Italy, 1940s

Sold Sold
  • Description
A rare and spectacular rectangular mirror with lacquered and gilded frame. Italian craftsmanship from the 1940s, designed by Paolo Buffa.

A large full-length mirror composed of an original glass from the 1940s, enhanced by a significant carved wooden frame decorated in a subtle pastel color with gold-highlighted details.

A motif of stylized leaves, inspired by classical design, runs along the perimeter of the mirror, excluding the corners. The absence in these areas, which enhances the reflective glass, is where the sophistication of this object's design lies. The glass is ground on the side and secured with brass inserts.

Designed by Paolo Buffa, the mirror reflects the distinctive style of the Italian designer, a prominent figure in the best Made in Italy creations.

The mirror measures 130 x 62 cm and is in excellent overall condition, with only a few signs of age and use on the frame. The original mirror has been restored by re-silvering it and therefore is in perfect condition.
