Description
Late 18th century Swedish Gustavian sofa or daybed. Richly decorated with gilt gold urns, sunbursts and finials rarely seen in examples like this. The sofa is a so called Trågsoffa and is solid pine with scraped to original paint. The paint has distress and the patina of time. The décor is unusually rich and varied and is done completely by hand. The sofa is a prime example of 18th century style and craftsmanship with intricately carved details and a solid frame.
The patina has developed to the irreplaceable charm it has today with different tones in the paint and genuine antique character. The sofa has a rustic appearance combined with elegant lines and a very detailed décor making it an unquestioned focal point. Storage underneath the seat. The seat itself is recently upholstered with linen fabric. The whole sofa is very well-made. Healthy and solid frame.
