Description
Presenting a stunning 18th century pair of large Chippendale style ribbonback chairs.
British, circa 1780–1800.
Oversized ‘period’ chairs with gorgeous ribbonback carving on the back splats.
In the style of chairs originally designed by the famous British furniture maker, Thomas Chippendale.
Made of solid mahogany, hand carved and handcrafted to include the use of wooden pegs rather than nails or screws as one would expect from a genuine period piece!
The center top of each back splat having the Prince of Wales Plumes carved thereon, helping to identify this as a Regency Piece.
Acanthus leaf knees with ball and claw feet. The edging of the seats also highly carved.
The upholstery is old but probably re-upholstered during the 19th century.
Absolute quality throughout! -
