Elegant French 19th-century Régence-style loveseat, beautifully fashioned in richly carved walnut with an exceptionally graceful silhouette. The shaped crest rail and frame are adorned with finely carved floral and foliate ornament, complemented by scrolled arms and an elaborate pierced apron. The serpentine lower stretcher adds both visual interest and structural detail.
The back and seat retain their original cane, which is strong, intact, and free of breaks. A new custom down-filled seat cushion has been made in crisp white cotton, providing exceptional comfort while maintaining the refined character of the piece.
A sophisticated example of French decorative furniture, combining exquisite carving, elegant proportions, and the lightness of caning. Equally well suited to a traditional interior, French country setting, or more collected contemporary room.
