19th Century Round Satinwood Stool with Red Leather Seat

Description
Antique very unusual round boldly figured satinwood stool with buttoned dark red leather upholstered seat that is hinged and opens to reveal a good storage space below. The leather is studded with brass tacks and is mounted on a round stepped plinth base. Inside, below the brass hinge, the wood is stamped “Lamb 91398 Manchester”
James Lamb (1816–1903) was an English cabinet maker in Manchester who set up shop in 1840. Lamb’s furniture ranges from gothic to aesthetic and neo-classical in style. He turned the family business into a prestigious one, winning medals at the 1862 London Exhibition and again at the 1867 Paris Exhibition. -
