Description
Afra and Tobia Scarpa Pair of 'Monk' Chairs for Molteni, Italy, circa 1974
A simplified and solid design by Italian award-winning designer couple Afra & Tobia Scarpa, the 'Monk' model is composed of two equal trestles in solid wood attached to shaped metal tubing, creating a single element for the seat and back. The two structural parts are joined by two pairs of bolts for each trestle, with the decorative touch of large hubs in burnished steel facilitating the connection to the solid wood. Newly re-upholstered in cognac colored Italian leather. Extremely comfortable and highly architectural from every angle.
