Description
The 4 Africa chairs are a striking example of sculptural postmodern design, blending craftsmanship, symbolism, and architectural form into functional seating pieces. Crafted in richly grained wood with black leather upholstered seats, the chairs balance warmth and graphic precision with an unmistakably collectible aesthetic.
Each chair is defined by its dramatic backrest, composed of two sculpted wooden panels divided by a central vertical line. The backs are decorated with elegant black inlaid curves that radiate outward in a fan-like motif, evoking tribal patterns, sunbursts, or topographic lines. This geometric detailing gives the chairs a strong visual identity while emphasizing symmetry and rhythm across the set.
The silhouettes are bold yet refined:
Rounded upper backs soften the otherwise structured geometry.
The sculptural backrests flow seamlessly into the rear supports, creating an almost architectural presence.
Thick leather cushions provide contrast through their smooth matte texture and understated comfort.
The warm honey-toned wood highlights the natural figuring and grain, bringing depth and organic character to the design. Paired with the black detailing and upholstery, the chairs achieve a sophisticated balance between African-inspired decorative language and contemporary Italian craftsmanship.
Viewed together as a set, the chairs function almost like individual sculptures around a dining table — expressive, graphic, and highly collectible. Their design reflects a dialogue between traditional motifs and modern form, making them ideal statement pieces for interiors that value artistry, craftsmanship, and strong visual character.
