Set of 2 Easy Chairs in Beech and Fabric by Arne Vodder, 1950s

Price Upon Request
  • Description
This rare pair of easy chairs, model FD-161, was designed by Arne Vodder and produced by France & Daverkosen in Denmark during the 1950s. The chairs feature frames constructed from beechwood, complemented by teak detailing that creates an elegant contrast between the materials. The design highlights refined joinery techniques, with sculpted armrests and tapered legs contributing to the chairs’ balanced proportions. The rear legs extend slightly beyond the seat frame, a characteristic element of Scandinavian modern design that adds visual interest while maintaining structural stability. The seating surfaces have been newly upholstered in Gabriel Savak plain wool fabric, originally designed by Tove Kindt-Larsen, preserving the chairs’ authentic mid-century aesthetic while enhancing comfort. Each chair includes an adjustable reclining mechanism that allows for two positions, combining functional versatility with ergonomic support. These easy chairs reflect Danish craftsmanship at its finest, embodying Arne Vodder’s signature approach of organic forms and practical elegance.
