Description
Art Deco pieces, which emerged in the first half of the 20th century, reveal a unique era of craftsmanship and style that remains influential in design to the present day. Characterised by its bold geometric shapes, rich materials, and luxurious aesthetics, Art Deco transformed the way we perceive interior spaces. This testament to the fusion of form and function, and this ethos of opulence, is beautifully exemplified in this armchair.
In the European design world of the 1930s, exceptional seating pieces were created that still embody the elegance of the Art Deco period. This armchair, with its distinctive features, exudes the spirit of the era and remains a stylish example of this influential design movement. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, its geometrically-inspired frame is constructed from rich oak that exudes luxury. The deep shade and grain of the wood creates an impactful look while adding subtle decoration to the piece. The different shades of brown flow from the arms and form into the front legs of the armchair, creating depth and dynamism. The chair is upholstered in a teal fabric, adding vibrancy to any interior space. The scalloped back is a charming addition to the design, increasing the overall elegance of the armchair. This piece illustrates the perfect alliance of geometry and function emblematic of the time combined with expert craftsmanship.
This armchair inherited the best characteristics of Art Deco and European influences, created during a modern age of material innovation, aesthetic creativity, and instantly recognisable design. As this chairs shows, European furniture designers’ artistic approach was anchored by characteristic Art Deco refinement that was expressed through graceful forms and traditional methods.
