Art Deco Oak Armchairs, Netherlands, 1920s

$ 2,250
  • Description
    These Art Deco armchairs were produced in the Netherlands during the 1920s and reflect the period's growing preference for geometric clarity and architectural form. Crafted in solid oak, the design is defined by its rectilinear silhouette, sturdy proportions and carefully articulated joinery. The broad backrest, angular arm supports and subtly faceted details create a composition that is both functional and visually disciplined, illustrating the transition from traditional craftsmanship towards the more structured aesthetic of early modern design.

    The chairs retain a strong architectural presence while remaining remarkably understated. Their warm oak grain is complemented by later black cowhide upholstery secured with decorative nailhead trim, adding texture and contrast to the robust wooden framework. Characteristic of Dutch furniture from the interwar period, these pieces balance practicality with refined design, making them representative examples of early twentieth-century Art Deco seating. Sold individually.
