Description
Part of the Neko series — named for the Japanese word for cat, and born from the memory of a cat wandering through a ceramic studio in Japan — this stool shares the same formal logic as its companions in the collection.

Two hand-cut aluminum sheets intersect to form the base, their arched openings creating a structure that is at once monumental and airy. A round leather seat rests on the upper aluminum surface, its smooth geometry a warm counterpoint to the brushed metal beneath.

From the edges of the seat, four leather cords are inserted in bamboo and hang freely, each suspending a hand-assembled tassel: supple leather fringe, a section of turned bamboo, and a hand-fired raku ceramic disc. They sway at rest like a cat's toys left mid-play — objects of quiet animation that give the piece its wit and warmth.

Neko is an open edition work, hand-fabricated in France with natural variation in each ceramic and bamboo element.
