Silvio Coppola, Bernini, Italian Mid-Century Modern, Dining Chairs, Walnut, 1960s
Set of ten (10) dining chairs designed by Silvio Coppola for Bernini circa 1960s. Each example has strong walnut modernist frames with distressed black leather backrests and removable seat cushions. Inquire for re-upholstery options via our gallery.

Silvio Coppola was born in Brindisi, Italy in 1920 and graduated as architect in Politecnico di Milano. During his professional career he achieved several professional goals, either in Italy and abroad especially in mall architecture field. He also commetted to interior design, graphic design and visual communication and he was also a member of AGI (Institute of Graphic Arts in New York). He worked for big-name companies such as Bayer, Bernini, Montecatini, Monteschell, Zucchi, Cinzano, Alessi, Cassina, Parmalat and Feltrinelli. In 1962 he received the La Palma d'Oro award for advertising and the Rizzoli Award in 1966. He taught for several years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara and at the Gesamthochschule in Essen. His success in the field of furniture are marked by fine wood working ad giving the tradition a modern twist. He designed iconic pieces of furniture for Montina, Bernini, Cassina and Artemide. In 1967 he founded an Exhibition Design group with Munari and Grignani, to research the design applied to trade shows, fair and museums. He died in his beloved Milan in 1985. . -
