Description
The OW149 Colonial Chair by Ole Wanscher for Carl Hansen offers classic design with modern updates. Built with solid oak and finished with high-quality lacquer for a luxurious look and feel, this chair provides strength and comfort in a timeless silhouette.
The fundamental aesthetic and utility of contemporary Danish design were greatly influenced by Ole Wanscher (1903–1985). At the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he studied under Kaare Klint. After working at Klint's design studio, he went on to establish himself as a successful freelance furniture designer. When he took over Klint's position as professor at the Academy, he contributed to the development of Danish furniture design as a designer and an educator.
With a long history of amazing craftsmanship, dating back to the beginning of the company in 1908 in Odense, Denmark, Carl Hansen & Son is deeply rooted in the Danish Design Movement combining superior manufacturing with world renowned designs by Ole Wanscher, Hans J Wegner, and Mogens Koch, to name a few.
